Weighing Scales

Thursday, July 14th, 2005

Am now in possesion of a fairly high-tech weighing device that was procured not too long ago. Exact make and model is the Tanita BC-532, and it can basically tell you:

  • Weight
  • Body Fat
  • Bone Mass
  • Muscle Mass
  • And a whole host more

Mainly procured to keep track of progress when one’s on some sort of “program” so to speak.

Basic operating procedures? Set gender, age and height, and an activity level, then step onto the scale, with feet touching the 2 metal contacts.

Apparently after being weighed, electrical impulses are sent surging through the body and the resistence/impedence is measured to give a measurement of how much body fat is in one’s body. Not very very accurate, but excellent if one’s tracking relative measurements…

As of now, current measurements with this scale are:

Body Weight

Body Fat Percentage

Weight: 66.2kg; Body fat: 12.0%; Overall not too bad.

Simple to use, gives enough information, works well.

Great for keeping things in check.

Question becomes: Do scales lie?
